Shares of Rain Enhancement Technologies Holdco, Inc. (NASDAQ:RAIN) soared 51.8% in premarket trading Tuesday after the weather technology company announced the launch of operations at its first U.S. site in Colorado.

The firm said its Weather Enhancement Technology Array (WETA) system, installed in Gill, Colorado in October 2025, is now fully operational under a permit valid through October 31, 2026, with the possibility of a five-year renewal. The project marks Colorado’s first warm-weather weather-modification initiative, designed to enhance rainfall across roughly 360 square miles of farmland in Weld County.

The ground-based WETA system works by generating electrical charges that create ionized aerosols, which in turn promote condensation and rainfall. Unlike Colorado’s traditional cold-weather cloud seeding, which relies on silver iodide, RAIN’s solution is solar-powered and chemical-free.

“This first U.S. installation represents a transformative milestone for Rain Enhancement Technologies as we bring our proven ionization technology to American agricultural communities,” said Randy Seidl, Chief Executive Officer of Rain Enhancement Technologies.

The company’s ionization-based approach has already shown success abroad — including a six-year field program in Oman’s Hajar Mountains, where peer-reviewed studies indicated rainfall increases of 15–18%.

Andrew Rickert, Weather Modification Program Manager at the Colorado Water Conservation Board, commented, “We’re encouraged by the potential of this innovative technology to supplement water resources for Colorado’s agricultural communities.”

The new installation comes amid persistent drought challenges across the western U.S., and the WETA system’s coverage area spans about 230,000 acres of farmland that could benefit from the boosted precipitation the technology aims to deliver.
