Doug, Sure, it may all be fixed with "the next generation", once again, but after a while, people begin to look elsewhere. And there are an increasing number of viable alternatives.
The customers aren't "waiting around" to buy anything, for if they need something now, they'll buy what's out there. And the number of viable alternatives isn't growing. It's actually shrinking, unless you think Alpha, UltraSPARC and PA-RISC will still be around.
The only ones cheering about this latest Itanium errata are the AMD fanatics. Everyone else sees this as a big "don't care," from geeks to IT professionals to Wall Street.
