Alright, we've got some audiophiles here. I've got tubed Joule-Electra gear. The amp uses the large 6c33c-b tubes which were used in onboard MIG fighter radar systems.
I don't listen to vinyl, but do prefer SACDs over CDs by a long shot.
Oh how I hate to admit the vinyl I've ruined in my youth - through alcohol and drug induced recklessness, general neglect, and "low quality" audio equipment. Please forgive me O Lord!
You bring back bad memories. I was offered a McIntosh setup exactly as you describe about 10 years ago, but they all needed work (especially the '60's) and I was not willing to spend the time and money to get them refurbished knowing that I would use them infrequently. I have regretted that decision ever since.
There is an audio shop owner in Nashville (Nicholson's) where the owner has a fair amount of mint condition Mac equipment, including a perfect pair of 60's. He still sells new McIntosh equipment, but I would rather have the old gear.
