I think he is just a nice guy that tries to see the best in people/companies.

Even Andy Bryant, Intel BoD Chairman, admitted to Intel's mis-steps and said that they had lost their way and he was personally embarrassed by their failures at the recent Investors Meeting. So don't feel the urge to defend Intel too much. We have to call a spade a spade.

This is not about apologizing for past mistakes. It's about judging whether past mistakes are indicative of future performance - and talk of incompetent management or broken corporate culture would suggest that performance in the future would be equally as poor. That was the basis for my argument. I don't believe investors should give a free pass for missteps, but I do think if a person considers themselves as a prudent investor, they should challenge whether management is truly not competent, because if they are, then no one should expect things to ever get better. I think that's worth discussion, rather than just attacking me as an apologist.
