I'm involved with an SEC restitution case. They seized $1.6 million from the crooks in April 2009. In May 2009 an SEC investigator told me the money would be paid to victims.
The DOJ is holding restitution funds in the same case. Through the DOJ Victims Notification System we've known the SEC planned to pay restitution.
We never heard a word from the SEC until June 2013. They sent claim forms that had to be returned by Oct 1. Not a word since the June notification. The SEC turned the process over to a private law firm to process. 9billable hours)
We've never even been notified if our claims were received, much less if the y are being processed. The woman that answers their phone knows nothing and will not connect callers to anyone that might have information.
I heard about the SEC-porn story a while back. Every time I think about the restitution, I picture SEC people hunkered down in front of their computers, breathing hard.
