Now we can add to this evidence of US equivocation the compelling testimony of General Abdulrazzak al Juburi, 42, a youthful senior Iraqi general, formerly of Saddam's elite Republican Guard. In an interview recently conducted in Turkey Juburi told me that since 1994 Washington has declined to support the most promising means of destroying Saddam: a well-organised military coup. "If America wanted, Saddam could be finished in months," he says.
