Sara. Do you really think they were going to just waltz into Iraq and find it?
Only if he used it would they have done that.
This is going to take time.
One thing sadam wasn't, and that was dumb.

Little resistence? Why is that?
Think on that for a while.

So why did they fight if they knew they were out matched?

Wouldn't it have been better to save lives once they came to not fight?

Heck it would have been better not to make inspectors wait an hour or more to inspect places.

I guess we were interupting their tea time?
Is that it?
Or did they have something to hide? THINK SARA!

sarals - wasn't it you who made a statement along the lines of "I don't care if they do or don't find WMD ... The war is just wrong" but now you are complaining about a lack of WMD ... ????

Come on now, try to be consistent, and try to remember what you said so you can at least back up your own statments ... if even you contradict them, how do you expect anyone else to put any credibility in them?

" no WMD used or found yet... little resistence... where was the threat? IMO it was trumped up. "

" no WMD used or found yet... "
Sooo... You're saying this war was all about finding the WMD's?
Gee. Wasn't the previous mantra all about oil? What happened to the "All about the Oil" mantra?.. Inquiring minds stuff... Just gotta know!

" little resistence... where was the threat?... "
Gee again... That was not the impression that I received from reading Saddam Hussein's (and his Information Minister's <G>) comments. Yeah, the thousands of body bags being shipped back to the U.S.A. ... Wasn't that the big fear? Nope, this wasn't Viet Nam revisited.
Was it false bravado, a big ego, stupidity, Viagra poisoning or ??? on Saddam's part? Just how stupid or egotistical does one have to be to think that he and his regime could possibly defeat or even hold in check the power of the POLITICALLY UNFETTERED forces of the U.S. military?

" where was the threat? IMO it was trumped up. "
A couple of weeks or so ago, I came across a news article about some more people becoming unemployed. Now, I don't know what the average wage for middle eastern terrorists and agitators is, but the story said that "some" Palestinians were now seeking other employment as the $1,500,000 monthly payroll from Saddam Hussein's regime seemed to have dried up... Nope, I can't provide that link as proof... BUT, related, there is this:

"One of the primary goals of the Bush administration is to decrease the ability of rogue states to supply, train, and undergird terrorist organizations and individuals bent on the destruction of western democracies. Israel stands to gain from American policy aimed at reducing terrorist strikes on the United States and its allies by Islamic extremist groups. "

" Terrorists will be challenged in another way. Now there are fewer opportunities for training. This week some U.S. Marines found a terrorist training camp just outside Baghdad where bomb-making was apparently taught. A Marine spokesman said the camp had been operated jointly by the Iraqi regime and the Palestine Liberation Front. He also said documents found showed that recruits at the camp said they wanted to carry out suicide missions. And with Saddam Hussein out of power, money will stop flowing from Iraq to Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. This will dry up financial resources to terrorists and their families, making it more difficult for these groups to train, buy weapons, and carry out attacks on Israel as feverishly as before. Cutting off the Saddam supply line means that Palestinian and Islamic terrorist groups will find it more difficult to strike at Israel with new methods, new weapons, and new recruits if their resources become increasingly limited. "

Yeah, I live in Western Canada... Life (as much as we can hold it back) doesn't move quite so fast here. Last I officially heard, this war was about TERRORISM... not WMD's or Oil.

From:
http://www.voanews.com/PrintArticle.cfm?objectID=C9E8FBBB-AE07-49CB-B5FA4F78C43BD848&title=US%20...
(Heck of a long link.. Hope it works.)

" The State Department says there were 199 terrorist attacks last year, a 44 percent drop from 2001 and the lowest figure in more than 30 years. "

Repeat: " the lowest figure in more than 30 years. "
Nahhh... that wouldn't have anything to do with the aftermath (and resolve of President G. W. Bush and his administration) of 9-11, Afghanistan, and the prequel to Iraq II ?

" where was the threat? IMO it was trumped up. "

AND IF... 9-11 happened to you, your family, your home, your community, or your workplace... I kinda have the feeling that you would be 'complaining' that President G.W. Bush didn't do / wasn't doing enough.

New Mantra... Please trust me on this...

Now... Clear your thoughts, and repeat after me...

President G. W. Bush is not evil...
President G. W. Bush is not evil...
President G. W. Bush is not evil...
Repeat... ad infinitum...

Feel better now?

Sara: Are the stories that the Iraqi people are relaying about starvation, torture, rape, and murder trumped up?
The threat was real regardless if we ever find WMD....the "threat" was a regime run at the hands of a person without a conscience. I also have to wonder why they keep finding these portable "labs". If the US was inclined to make it "appear" they found WMD, they have had ample opportunity to do so....a little bottle of anthrax found on a portable lab is all they would have needed. Instead, they send samples to be tested and report the findings as negative. That proves the integrity of our government IMO.
