We're not adding anything as Dave mentioned the other day. They have actually been disabling features to try to alleviate the load on the system.
Everyone here believes their "iHub world" is the totality of the site or is at the very least reflective of all of iHub. That's not the case. I figured that out when I became an Admin - it's so much more massive on this side of fence than ppl realize.
So, because what's changed in "your world" is seeing those ridiculous posts doesn't mean that it's the root or even a symptom of the problem we're experiencing.
In fact, someone said the other day that the glitches are causing less and less posts because people are frustrated (because that's what that User was experiencing in "their world") while the exact opposite is the case.
Admin reports are very expensive on the system and so from "Admin's world", the problem very well could be the fact that we're seeing reports that are 50% higher than we have in the past.
Sure, all of this is contributing to it, but it's the sheer volume we're seeing across the entire site...think all time high in subscriptions means more posts, PMs, more searches, more functions being accessed. All time readership highs means more pages being delivered. New registrations are crazy right now - we are seeing 350+ daily and I'd guess only about 30 or so are multiple aliases signing up new accounts.
I really don't know why people are insistent the Geeks aren't working hard to resolve this. They are trying everything they can.
It isn't just "we need a new server" except I guess "just" isn't the right word since I understand getting new servers is an ordeal in and of itself. Our current server situation should be able to handle this volume.
However, as Dave mentioned earlier, they are going to go ahead and upgrade the server at some point.
It's frustrating for all of us and they are doing the best they can to resolve it.
