You might be willing to make excuses for Intel
I don't make excuses for Intel. You have grossly unrealistic
expectations how fast it could or would succeed even under
the most ideal circumstances.
I say it is a damn tough business moving into a unfamiliar
new market. I know from first hand experience at a bunch of
companies most of which were unsuccessful. It took Intel 20
years to dominate servers.
So Intel said it got interested in Mobile in 2009. Basically
the result of that is the BayTrail core last year. Intel got
interested in servers around 1990 or so. The result of that
was the P6 core in 1995. Well x86 didn't achieve a majority
share of servers by revenue until more than a decade after
PPro (P6).
On slide 21, you will see Intel claiming that in 2012 it would win designs and then by 2014/2015 it would be "extending product leadership".
LOL, do you think a company ever tries to move into a new
area with an expectation of failure? WTF seriously?
BTW, I have seen dozens if not hundreds of presentations
from other companies with great expectations that never
came true. It's kind of funny how you ignore those which
come from Intel's competitors hoping for a slice of its pie.
