BTW, What exactly does someone need full-blown Windows on a tablet for?

For a convertible 10" or so, it makes sense. For the smaller ones (i.e. the ones that will be selling in high volume), then nobody gives a hoot.

Android is here to stay and Intel needs to get its act together on Android.

fpg: Nope, I vote for a detachable hybrid. Tablets are not for work since I need to carry around a keyboard and I would rather have everything nicely packaged in a single unit.

The reason I need Windows:

So that my trusted Sony Camcorder can access my trusted PMB software and can work seamlessly with it. The last time I checked, Sony doesn't provide this on Macs, and I'm pretty sure they don't provide it on RT or Android.

Extend that to hundreds of thousands of devices. Most users want to get things done, not be on the bleeding edge.

Summary:
I need ONE machine (laptop/tablet) that can handle what I currently have - and provides me something that I don't. Not take away something that is tried and tested.

So a detachable, dual OS Windows/Android is something that I would vote heavily for - something like the Asus Duet T300.

What exactly does someone need full-blown Windows on a tablet for?

One feature that I have enjoyed with the Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet with full blown Windows has been the ease of joining my Windows HomeGroup network with one-click. Now my libraries of pictures, videos and music are accessible on my tablet for emailing, viewing etc. without transferring or uploading to the cloud. In addition all of the storage on my home network is available to the tablets for automatic backup etc.

There are probably other ways to accomplish this but for a life long Windows user this was a no-brainer and didn't require anything extra to achieve.

To dock into a large monitor and KB with mouse at a desk.

"BTW, What exactly does someone need full-blown Windows on a tablet for?"

[I can't believe that you need to ask this after the RT debacle.]
