Perhaps we just differ in our opinion of how well Intel can compete without the Wintel monopoly tipping the scale heavily in its favor.
Stupid Intel - poured tens of billions into semi process R&D and product development over the decades when they could have just outsourced wafer spinning to TSMC and hired a few Berkeley EE grad students to write RTL and let the "Wintel monopoly" shake the money tree for them.
