I did not mention 7-8" tablets, I mentioned "detachables". They could have a 10" or bigger screen.
Remember netbooks sold like hotcakes for a couple of years, so smaller machines have been very popular. I think people would like to carry around a small-screen detachable (especially highly mobile folks and kids using it for school), and just hook it up to a docking station or bigger monitor while working on more intense projects.
I would caution against projecting your own preferences on to the entire market.
What I want is the ability to use an external monitor off my Windows tablet or have the ability to remote desktop into it (Windows Pro license required). That's why I like the Venue Pro 11 better than the Venue Pro 8 - because it supports an external monitor. I hope that the Venue Pro 11 has better Wifi too. I believe that you can do wired Ethernet on the Venue Pro 11 but I'm not a big fan of USB-based Ethernet.
