#6208 RE: was Graywolf #6201

No offense meant

You sure you want to agree with Righton on this one? After all, he did call me a thief... and I'm not entirely sure how you can support that position without offense.

It is common knowledge that the same wire carries both the cable TV signal and the broadband.

It is also common knowledge that the signals come on different channels, each of which can be filtered.

By purchasing the broadband service and requesting that the that line be brought in to your home, you are honor bound to not pirate the other signals on the wire.

Honor bound? Perhaps. Contracturally required? Nope.

They are not delivering something to you that you didn't request, you requested thier wire, so you are obligated to pay for anything you use that's on that wire.

I see, so you believe that it is my responsibility, not the cable company, to filter the signal.

I didn't order cable channels, I ordered internet access. Had I ordered cable then perhaps that would be a different story. If they want it back they can certainly have it.

Suppose you order a subscription to Playboy Magazine. The first of the month comes around and you eagerly tear open the plain brown wrapper and find not only a copy of Playboy... but also a copy of Playgirl.

You are only being billed for the Playboy, but using your logic it appears that you feel that you are now somehow obligated to pay for pictures of naked hairy men.
