Data-re multi-mode licensing--true enough that 3G licensing is planned to encompass all other modes that may be present. That would mean there is proper and equitable provision built into the 3G terms to cover single- and multi-mode...to simplify the accountability and allow for minimumly complex understandings.
One way or another, there should be no free-riding with 2G. 2G may be used as leverage to gain other benefits, but that again is no free-ride.
Nokia's future license for IDCC IPR may well give them royalty-free use of TDD (a 3G tech) but they will pay for any 2G IPR in a GSM/TDD device...or so I belive.I only expand on your views and see no disagreement. redhot
