One way to take a screen snapshot is to press control and print screen button to capture the screen. Then open your paint program and hit edit/paste. Then you can hit file/save as and save it as a .bmp file. You could also use IRfanview or other programs to do it.
If you want to save only a part of that screen you can crop it with the paint program.

CTRL+Print Screen will capture the entire screen and copy it into the clipbaord. Alt+Printscreen will do the same thing, except only to the active window.
From there you can open Paint or any other graphics program and Paste the image in with a CTRL+V. Nice to convert it to jpg from bitmap if you are going to upload it. Saves a lot of space.
