What about responding to emerging new trends, threats and new developments? Intel had ample time to respond, but Intel had always been last to accept the changes - even after its own partners in the same boat (MSFT, Dell, HPQ, etc).
I don't fault Intel management for missing out Apple's A series business. In fact I think it was a right decision at that time. But what about missing Android? Emergence of Andorid was in response to growing popularity of iPhone. So things were ample clear way back.
