How can you find a trend in this 'trendless' market? The 10:00 and the 2:00 or 2:30 reversal period. The 10:00 usually the bottoming and the 2:00 and/or 2:30 the topping. 3:00 is usually a strengthening of the 2:30 reversal period. Climactic volume usually precedes trend reversals. The trendless market could last for quite a while, but utilizing earnings plays can get you into plays that buck the trend.
