What is Hell ?- Let the Bible answer --
Adam was told the punishment for disobedience - death -
Eternal death back to dust - see Genesis 2:17 and 3:19
Not burning in a so called hell fire -
Paul told the Romans " the wages sin pays is death " not
Being tortured forever in a fire - chapter 6 verse 23 -
In Jeremiah 51:39,57 it says some would " sleep a perpetual
Sleep and not wake " - not tormented perpetually - dead forever-
Jeremiah 7:31 and 19:5 tells us the wicked burned their children in a fire which
Was something God would never entertain in his mind he says - and in 32:35 he
Calls this act an "abomination"--
can you imagine a father putting his child's hand
On a hot stove as punishment for doing something very bad -
Yet some believe and teach a God of love would burn a person in fire
Not a day or month or year but millions and millions of years and beyond -
What a terrifying teaching . No creature could endure such pain and still be
Conscious - A loving and just God would never never submit a creature to such
A horrible thing -
Man punishes vile criminals by death not torture or torment - death and quickly -
Is man more just then God - if one is faithful he gets eternal - if wicked the opposite
Eternal death - likened to a perpetual sleep - destroyed forever - back to dust -
Would you get satisfaction seeing a person who killed a family member being burned
By fire day after day - or would you rather see that person be put to death and buried and rot
In the grave - only a sadistic person would derive any satisfaction from seeing one
Tortured day after day - not a loving Christian -
The Bible "hell " is not a place of burning fire - Jesus was in " hell " nearly three days - and Jonah
Also was in "hell" - see Acts 2:24-33 and Jonah 2:1,2-
It is the same place as the Hebrew "Sheol" and the Greek " hades"-
The common grave of humankind - both good and bad go there at death -
Millions will be resurrected from hell just as Jesus was - some to heaven but
Most to earth - see John 5: 24-30 and Acts 24:15 and Hebrews 11:35--
Gehenna not hell is likened to a lake of fire symbolically and referred to as
The second death with no hope of ever being resurrected to life again -
There is where the incorrigibly wicked are cast -they go back to dust forever as if
Cast into a lake of fire - total destruction - "everlasting destruction " as 2 Thessalonians
1:9 tells us -
If you look up the Hebrew root word for hell in Strong's Exhaustive Concordance with the
Hebrew and Greek Dictionary - it says "Sheol " and means " the world of the dead -grave- pit"-
Psalm 146:3-4-King James Version (KJV)
3."Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish." [ no longer conscious -no pain or suffering]
Psalm 104:29--King James Version (KJV)
29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. [no torture -no torment]
What do the following scriptures teach --
Psalm 92:7--King James Version (KJV)
7 "When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:" [dead forever- not tortured]
Psalm 6:5--King James Version (KJV)

Psalm 37:9-10,20,38 --King James Version (KJV)

Job 34:14-15--King James Version (KJV)
14 "If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; 15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust."
King James Version (KJV)--Ecclesiastes 3:19,20 --
19"For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. 20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again"
Ecclesiastes 9:5,10 --King James Version (KJV)
5 "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten."
10." Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest" [no torture -suffering-pain-dead-]
Isaiah 26:14--King James Version (KJV)
14 "They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish."
Remember the scriptures about the rich man and Lazarus is a parable and
Is not to be taken literally as with all parables -
Also Revelation is a book with many symbolic scriptures not to
Be taken literally - so use of fire - torment - smoke - not literal but highly
Symbolic - remember death and hell are cast into the lake of fire -
Destroyed - cease to exist - after all are resurrected and tested -
Hell is not a place of burning fire - it is the common grave of humankind -
Those in it will be resurrected -
Gehenna is everlasting destruction- no resurrection for those cast there -
