IMHO, Hastings can try and protect his $15PER all he wants.
If there is to be a technical revolution fuelled by social demand it will happen and he won't be able to stop it, even if he builds economic walls ten feet high around his business. Somebody will simply do and end run around these kind of people and then the floodgates will open.
DVD's are dead media, an extension of the first recorded disc. A one way street, where events are performed, edited by someone on the other side.
