You think RUSSIA gets involved in the War?

If Powells accusations are true the Russians have already been involved in the war. Powell accused them of giving Iraq GPS jamming equipment and having military advisors in Baghdad. If the GPS jamming technology really works this is no small detail. Between the oil fires causing the smoke clouds above Iraq and the GPS signals being jammed our "smart bombs" may not be working. That may cause us to have many more dead and wounded soldiers than if they were working, I have been saying for a long time the Russians loom large in this picture. They bought pieces of the oil fields from Iraq long after the Axis of evil speech. They and the French are trade with Iraq. So we are bombing their trading partners. Moscow considers the oil in the Caspian Sea region their oil. My understanding is that Much of the oil and gas in the region was developed by the Soviets before the breakup of the U.S.S.R. The Russians have been selling tanks and submarines to the Iranians. It is a bit hard for me to imagine that the Russians would'nt be involved in this war in some fashion.

Do you really think that Russia is ready to get into a military confrontation with us?? Take away the nukes from both sides (I am confident that Russia is not willing to go nuclear with us) and they are not even close to being a match for us in any way - especially in a theatre where we would have a massively overwhelming superiority.

And as for their nuclear subs, I suspect that each of them has at least one US attack sub shadowing it very closely that could eliminate the Russian sub on a moment's notice.

A Russia vs US conflict might have been a tossup at the height of their power, but it would be a total mismatch now. More importantly, they know that as well as we do.
