What stupid thing did Intel do ? Isn't a compiler supposed to detect and bypass redundant instructions ? For instance if there is a loop testing a memory location whose contents cannot change, then the compiler is supposed to optimize that redundant test. How is that a stupid thing that Intel did ? It seems that if there is any stupidity, it is specifically not on Intel's part.
