this whole thing has quite damaged my regard for the Guardian -- they damned well hired Greenwald, and Greenwald damned well sold himself to them, just/in particular for this

same here. I've gone there twice since .. . sheesh a week ago or so... and I go there daily, posting or not posting .. just to read. Of course there has been no point in reading greenwald since late 2008 really .. but they do have other good sections, photos, videos, etc.... and environmental .. but then I read an article there in the environmental section that was written by a damn 911 truther blogger... I know to some people that's o.k. ... and maybe it is ... but I never was a truther, and darnit! I don't want to read environmental stuff by a truther, not disclosed, on the environment!

so I've been checking in with them rarely since this! ... some will sell it all for a little flutter . .. makes me sick. The Guardian is an old paper .. maybe an 100 plus years old I think I read and they have been good .. but, I believe that the other papers in England ... have taken away their readers .. some of those papers have gone into .. more well, I don't know what to say .. something like sex with the news .. and ON the same page that you're reading .. lol .. but really. And I think that competing with the internet AND other daily's has effected the Guardian ... and NOT in a good way... .. I'm really really disappointed in them .

Yesterday or the day before, The Guardian mislead their readers about an interview they had with our Rep. John Lewis.

Rep. John Lewis (D-GA)

They ended up giving you a strong impression that Rep. Lewis 'approved' of snowden and that he compared him to himself and MLK.. Yes, that is the impression they gave. However Rep. John Lewis on his on Congressional website stated TODAY Aug 8, 2013:

Rep. John Lewis: No Praise for Snowden

“News reports about my interview with The Guardian are misleading, and they do not reflect my complete opinion. Let me be clear. I do not agree with what Mr. Snowden did. He has damaged American international relations and compromised our national security. He leaked classified information and may have jeopardized human lives. That must be condemned.

“ I never praised Mr. Snowden or said his actions rise to those of Mohandas Gandhi or other civil rights leaders. In fact, The Guardian itself agreed to retract the word “praise” from its headline.

“At the end of an interview about the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, I was asked what I thought about Mr. Snowden’s actions. I said he has a right as an individual to act according to the dictates of his conscience, but he must be prepared to pay the price for taking that action. In the movement, we were arrested, we went to jail, we were prepared to pay the price, even lose our lives if necessary. I cannot say and I did not say that what Mr. Snowden did is right. Others will be the judge of that.”
