I'm only allowed one message per day so don't ask questions . Because the drums expand lengthwise those tracks look more like ringed groove which would keep one drive end in a fixed position. Normally distillation towers are extremely high with takeout at different heat levels and heights . Creating one shape allows for the adjustable removeable of gases and naptha and diesel without the height and with complete flexibility . The two cylinders are slide gates . Top opens and the filler tub fills with plastic It closes and the bottom one opens so that the material gets carried to the drum.Cycle is repeated every few minutes. With added nitrogen at this point (a guess) would prevent any quantities of oxygen from entering the drum which mixed with the hydrogen could create a dangerous explosive mixture. The whole processor is probably sealed from the outside environment. All of the above is only my opinion based on what I see in the photos .
