If people knew how tenuous reliance on computers and the ability to hack into them where they would really freak out. Hacking into a nuclear power plant and causing havoc or disrupting local power grids or targeting chemical plants are just some things that leave us vulnerable. We can't protect ourselves from everything so I only ask the government to protect us from big things. Let's not have a LNG tanker explode in a busy harbor or a nuclear plant shut down with radiation leakage because their cool water supply was shut off.
The government was not listening on our calls and can only do that with a warrant. The only administration that we know willfully violated that is the prior administration when they wouldn't even go to the FISA court to tell them about PRISM. That's one of the reasons the new FBI director (pending approval) was approved by Obama because he did help uncover this program and would not approve it on Americans unless they went to the FISA court.
