The camera feed is lost when the tether is torn--it is a data-capable tether. You can push more data through fiber than you can through radio frequency. This is one advantage aerostats have over other UAV's. Ever notice you don't get color images from a Predator or Reaper (when you see the feed on the news)? That is because the wireless radio bandwidth only allows so much data. The increase is classified I think but you could calculate the difference from commercial analogs I think. I don't recall talking about this advantage of aerostats here before. But the data capable tether is important. I am glad you stimulated me to bring up this point. We should talk about this more because it shows why there is a strong future for tethered aerostats IMO. Thanks, as always, Nil. IJO
