Doctors being aware of acupuncture's benefits is totally different from insurance paying for it - the same as being able to get an off-label prescription from your doctor for Vascepa but having to pay out of pocket.
Years ago chiropractic treatment coverage was limited, at least by my then current insurance, to one visit per month - now it's unlimited. Hopefully someday acupuncture will gain the respect it deserves, although without someone paying for official studies proving it's benefits it's probably not likely. I'm pretty sure their are studies out their that show it's effective for smoking cesssation, at least?
