It's a thread about the Anandtech preview of Yonah. I just found it interesting how much the talk was of TDP variability.

I'm sorry but I must disagree with you here.
Whilst the cooling solution used on Servers etc are admitedly different - how can you explain a DC Opteron with a TCase max of 49C having a TDP of 35W whereas at 65C (a mere 30% increase) the TDP shoots up to 110W for a given thermal profile?. In this particular thermal profile a 2C increase at each interval equates to an increase in TDP of 10W except at the highest level.
Perhaps we are talking about different temperature measurements here?
