Let us think of things in more of a global sense...
We have a Yearly budget Deficit that exceeds 1 Trillion Dollars a year...To Continue this behavior will virtually eliminate the Middle Class...We will have two classes...Rich and Poor...But what can we do??...There are many things...
1. Bring our troops home from all their overseas military adventures and close 30% of our over 900 Global military bases.
2. Make the tax code fairer...How about raising the standard deduction to 40,000 dollars a year, and flat tax the rest...No Deductions at all...With the first 40,000 free, people could better afford to live a basic life...
3. Medicare actually works...Raise the medicare tax from 1.45% from employee and Employer...Raise it to at least 1.8%...
4. Social Security is going to be there...Raise the cap on SS taxes from 113,000 to 150,000 in income....Keep the CPI increase on the cap every year.
5. Pass a balanced Budget Amendment.
6. While we are having a constitutional convention...Pass an Amendment that only allows for individuals to donate to political campaigns...No Corporate or Partisan groups are allowed to give money to federal, state, or local political campaigns...Mandate a certain amount of TV airtime for each candidate to espouse their views free.
7. Eliminate all corporate taxes...They are only passed through to the end consumer.
8. Raise the Gas tax ten cents, with all money going against the deficit. The last time the federal gas tax was raised was in the early 1990's under Bush Sr.
9. Eliminate the Dept of Homeland Security, the dept of education, and the dept of Energy, and the federal reserve. Move essential functions to other departments.
10. Constrain the CIA to intelligence gathering only. They are not subject to the UCMJ.
In these terms, gun control is just a speck...
