Lee, hello ...need a cataract [laser] operation in a few weeks

I had one eye done 1997 and the other about 5 years later. Perfect results with no complications both. 20-20 (with prescription for astigmatism). Procedure took only 15-20 minutes (after maybe an hour of prep and wait), easy. Many acquaintances identical results from the best eye surgeon in my city (120k population).

No regression or threat of such at age 85. Reading and computer monitor reading capability renewed to estimated age 20 level, wonderful.

If you have diabetes or risk factors for that disease, the sooner the better for the cataract problem. Be sure to advise the doctor of diabetes if applicable. He will know about the interactions. Not a great danger unless effects in the retina are already advanced, but special examination is required.

Recommended if using an experienced surgeon.

Lee, are you getting actual laser surgery done? I had corneal implants done approximately 5 years ago to rectify cataracts. Amazing results. Near 20/20 vision, colors are much more vivid, much sharper images of whatever I look at, removed glasses restriction from drivers license. 15 - 20 minute procedure, one eye at a time one month apart. Slight "sand in the eye" pain for first day or two post op but tolerable. I'm 77 and glad I had it done.

Had cataract removed on right eye May 23,2012. I was legally blind 20/400 vision . Had procedure with 20/20 lens implant. It was a piece of cake. took till February to settle the insurance paperwork. $1500 out of pocket my 20% . Have a slight loss in other eye 20/80 wearing glasses for first time will need the other one done in a few years. Sure makes it easier to see the little white ball when it lands. I had trouble seeing it last season for about 6 weeks of the season. Priorities made me get it checked out . Had the laser surgery . was in and out in 30 minutes in the operating room . The surgeon does 8-10 surgeries a day .3 times a week .
