I've seen people claim here that lack of Start menu is the sole reason for disappointing adoption rate for Windows 8.

That's simply not true. It does make it more confusing in overall. It didn't help that the "Start" version of apps is a severely defeatured and useless version of the identically named versions in Desktop mode.

The Asus VivoTab Smart crashes every 1-2 days, my Dell XPS 12 touchscreen becomes unresponsive after few hours of use and have to restart.

Not to mention that I have compatibility issues with websites that I visit. No real option for Firefox or Chrome because IE's touch capabilities are better than both.

There's no battery life gain over Windows 7 systems(Windows 8 Ultrabooks actually have worse battery life). Power use between both my Ultrabook and the Tablet varies wildly for no reason sometimes.

More and more I am thinking the future might not be in Windows. Barring the unlikely(Balmer getting fired or Windows getting a GOOD revamp), I hope Intel finds success in Android and Chrome. I'd actually like to see steady decline of Windows(where it would be used by power users) with Android taking increasing importance until things like emulation of unportable legacy applications happen and power user software like games and photoshop move to Android.
