Seems like once every three months I hear about Intel having problems with drivers or whatever. Is this now a thing of the past?
Bay Trail uses Intel's internal graphics core, so issues should be a thing of the past.
By the way, the Clover Trail issues are solved, even though it took an extra month or two to solve them. I got two of them for family members, and they love it.

Problems with drivers are a fact of life in any software engineering organization, Intel being no exception. Having said that, the driver software factory at Intel has improved significantly and continues to do so in their implementation of some very advanced continuous integration strategies. But ever new OS release from MS or Google can always introduce challenges to maintaining the driver release cadence (which market conditions have sped up significantly over the past two years).
Bugs in Software will always be with us. The issue is finding them prior to release. No one seems to be immune ! Microsoft is known for buggy software releases. Apple was riding on its high horse, until the Maps fiasco occurred. The software testing and verification methodology is not keeping up with the increasing complexity.
