just because a maturity date is reached doesn't mean the debt holder must convert at that time. they can wait for a moment (or price) they feel is most advantageous. this is why i find it so interesting that we've seen conversions this last week.
there is simply no way this could be new debt. if it's financing-related it is the payment of old loans. clearing off the balance sheet. as you said, each contract has a maturity date, and the earliest ones i've seen were at 6 months out or longer on the calendar.
if the OS is increasing this could mean key people are getting stock. again, i don't see this as a negative. for example, if montecito said they would settle for 20M shares, imo that would be equity well spent.
not long ago, a bear said when volk kicked mason out he issued himself equity. i don't know how anyone would be able to know this, but if true, this means volk (who has taken stock for salary in the past) is planning on that equity increasing in value.
