I think we’ll be hearing a lot of this soundbite during the pre-launch marketing of Denosumab. And why not? It’s a damn good soundbite.
Because it's a crock maybe?
The best preventative is to choose better ancestry, avoiding Scandinavian and Chinese at all costs if you are a female. (How the hell could the Vikings have had weak bones? I haven't the foggiest notion but I report only the reported stats from a time before everybody was getting osteoporosis and needed medicating.)
My sisters live in terror of a horrendous disease that nearly completely paralyzed my mother for years before her death. A clear and active mind in a crumbling body surrounded by deteriorating minds has to be a particularly acute torture. My sisters get regular updates on how their bone density has decayed again and need more medicine that seems worth as much as a politician's promise.
I have my prejudices you see. Ain't nobody going to convince me easily that a cure for the non-afflicted is equally good for those who are afflicted by bad parenting.
