Blacklight has always been "a few years away" from a commercial application. Always has and always will. I looked at them a few years ago and couldn't see anything but lunatic fringe pseudoscience. Didn't spend much time admittedly. If they have something real, their stock price will make Google look cheap, Arabs will be pouring oil back down into their wells, and Walmart will sell a Chinese knockoff. Someone wake me up then.
The problem with these companies is that proof, applications, etc. ARE ALWAYS A FEW YEARS OFF. The future just never seems to come, IT IS ALWAYS A FEW YEARS OFF.
See the same thing in medicine constantly. Only in this case, patients who go the alternative medicine route sometimes end up with tangible evidence of its worth. They see quacks for bogus treatments and end up dead.
