There was a guy named Randell who was charged under these laws; he could've gotten 500 years but he plead guilty and got three years.


Yes, Fitzgerald was under the gun to come up with something to show for his two years of work. These charges are easy to make; the false statements ones may be the easier to prove. Perjury is a level higher, isn't it? But intent has to be proven, the false statements can be attributed to "I forgot". That's what the defense will say.

Should be easy to find twelve people that think politicians tell lies, though.
