#142656 RE: Madmonks #142655

Madmonks, had hoped early on that Easctcor would be part of the package when the aquisition took place.Manta back then had the same numbers as you just posted with close to 10M yearly revenue.
There were a few things that has me still guessing this was/is part of his company.

1)GTC was owned by Mr Phipps
2)The original GTC website stated they owned an engineering firm in Maryland.
(I read this on the website back then and may have posted this info here also.)
3)HQ was in NY,but the test ground station is in Easton MD.(what is the exact address of the ground station?)
4)Eastcor is also in Easton

So this leads me to one of two things, maybe GTC had an engineering firm in easton Maryland near the ground station and it went out of business, which is a possibility, or Eastcor is that engineering firm.

Guessing again about the revenue question. Thinking Mr Phipps GTC generated all his revenue thru gov contracts, and eventually lost them.Perhaps to a new technology,or maybe because of GSAT problems?

Thanks very much for the mention Madmonks,i'm in a very similar situation to you and a few others from reading earlier posts, and can relate to and appreciate the concern shown in your posts also.So for now we try to learn as much as possible and hope things change quickly.

I don't think I buy the Phipps ownership of Eastcor idea. I found a Forest Service contract earlier this year where GTC competed directly against Eastcor. I think David has many strengths and a close relationship with Eastcor, of course. But from observation I think he would not tend to produce a culture like Eastcor. Eastcor feels like a George Vojtech culture to me. Anita has background in secure satcomms as well. Eastcor also does business as ATS--Advanced Technology Solutions by the way, if you want to do more research on them. JMO.

If my theory that ground stations produce free ECN's that can be sold for high margin profit is correct, then failure to build ground stations reduces GTC revenue potential greatly. As does failure to sell tracker subscriptions. These may be the failures that account for GTC's underperformance as a profit center/funding source IMO. No slam to Mike Clark but these Wall Street types seem to underestimate how long it takes to do stuff in this arena IMO. THAT is another big disservice to SH's I think. I hope we get the revenue picture sorted out on GTC. Thanks for putting pressure on it, MM. You can't help fix what you can't understand. With thanks, IJO

Madmonks, good post, and I share many of your concerns.

Let me throw out a bone here to chew on. Understand this is pure speculation on my part, but it is based on a conversation I had with someone a few years back.

We all have a pretty good idea that one of the customers of Eastcor's private and very specialized work is the CIA. There were reports of black vans parked along the perimeter fence at Easton airport during our early testing of the airships there. I wasn't there to witness it, but the report came from someone who was there, and I have no reason to believe they were lying.

It's also been reported that it was one of GTC's appliques that allowed our government to intercept certain cell phone transmissions that enabled Saddam Hussein to be located and captured. It's not unreasonable to assume the CIA was involved in that intelligence-gathering operation as well.

It's my understanding that any intelligence-gathering involving interception of satellite to ground transmissions involves a warrant from the courts. It's also my understanding this process involves tapping into the certain ground stations approved by the warrant.

But what if an airship could be placed high above the Earth... and airship that could be maneuvered remotely into the desired location above one of these ground stations... an airship that just happened to contain one or more of these hardware/software "appliques" of GTC. Would capturing certain satellite to ground transmissions now be possible without requiring the warrant?

What kind of advantages would that present to the CIA and other intelligence-gathering agencies?

I suspect this may be one of the reasons why there is involvement by GTC and Eastcor with our product development, and why the CIA might have shown interest in our airships during flight testing. At least it's a possibility. Whether that capability could be utilized on the Argus or better utilized on one of the higher altutude Argus 2 or Argus 3 airships remains to be seen. Actually, if this is one of the uses, we'll probably never know about it. But I do hope there is substantial revenue generated that we will know about.
