Stephanie -- no intelligence, no matter how great, can by merely thinking/consciously computing about it stop historically-accumulated ice from melting because it's warmer than it used to be -- perhaps they'll help us, or more precisely finally figure out for us, how to make fusion power generation work, and build for us total power supplies dwarfing what we have now that could be put to work in some great project to take gigaton after gigaton of carbon out of the atmosphere and store it -- or perhaps they'll decide they frankly don't give a damn, about warming they will have no problem adapting to/handling, or for that matter about us (or any biological life)
