PWC did sign off on the accrual provision. It seems Federal wants a % of the NOK/Samsung monies and Interdigital would only need to add an accrual at the time the revenue is recognized after a final resolution with Nokia.
In the press release on 7/5 after the ICC award established the royalty rate, IDCC would get $112M thru 2004 and then between $120M - $140M thru 2006. I don't know but $252M * 9% + the $3.4M already accrued for S/E is within almost a million dollars of the $28M sought by Federal. The number sought by Federal is just too close to the S/E settlement plus the expected funds from Nokia to not think they are trying to get a % of Nokia in addition to ERICY.
Could it be that Goldberg's touting the figures owed by Nokia/Samsung after the ERICY settlement (thus linking the two together) created a "cause and effect" for Federal to believe they deserved to get more $$$$ for their legal payments? Could this be why HG is no longer around?
