I wonder how ramped up they are to produce it. Most clinical trial take a year or two, then production has to be available. The maker of Tamiflu is considering allowing other pharmas to make it, but said it would take 3 years to build the necessary facilities.
What happens if peramivir prevents the flu but causes kidney failure? Remember Rezulin? I wouldn't take it until it has been through years of trials. And by next spring, the manufacturing capability of other companies that have flu drugs will be up. Trust me--in 2006 there will be no shortage of flu drugs and vaccines. The problem is that there is a huge shortage for the 2005-2006 season.
