Zen, although that's what seems to be going on, a 'slog to vista'.

Zen

Can we agree on 30 million? How many has IBM shipped? Doesn't seem as though Vista has hurt their sales! Then again, they sold their PC division! Expect a Lenovo/Windbond deal before the holidays. Perhaps then we'll see closer to 40 million.

Let's say we almost agree instead of agreeing to disagree.

Zen, I fully expect those 100s of millions of TPM 1.2s will be well on their way to deployment long before Vista. The industry, as well as enterprises that depend on MS, know very well how unreliable MS timeline projections can be with new offerings, so don't expect Vista to hold things up. I believe the die has already been cast by key players in the TCG and PC industry.

Widespread TPM adoption needs a strong push from the likes of Dell and that should (needs to) begin soon, certainly this quarter. Other OEMs will then follow to the point where TPM penetration should begin to reach enough of a critical mass so more enterprises will start seriously activating them before the middle of 2006. Right now enterprise activation is minimal, but that should start changing in Wave's favor over the next six months.

Zen, although that's what seems to be going on, ie. vista 1.2, aka, a 'slog to vista'. This time though, it's not necessarily M/S in the drivers seat. Intel, STM, Atmel and others are now well, taking the lead? As Weby stated so articulately. It's interesting to see sks speak ambiquity, and the way the market has shifted the last. 'For me, seven years now'... TTT... good day to you all. Rbt.
