if he is so worried about giving details that could endanger his technology why not then following with the patent process so he could hold the rights of that technology.

Not defending Robert nor the company and I doubt this is the reason for him not paying the fees, but if you're going to talk about protecting his technology, I could see the logic in not moving forward with the patent. I know a little something about patents as I have one and have been involved in product development for almost 25 years. A patent does not protect you completely because there is always a design around. Any good engineer can take an existing patented design and come up with a modified version that gets around a patent. It's all a matter of how far you are willing to go to defend that patent in a legal battle. I've worked for Fortune 500 companies where we budgeted millions just for this purpose. Maybe Robert feels it's in his best interest to keep the technology out of the public eye until it is absolutely completed and proven. Not saying this is the case, just making an argument for why one may not proceed with a patent.
