and, our current problem is that government has transformed itself into the pathway to personal enrichment....and, in a capitalist based economy and individual liberty based society that fact spells trouble....
under capitalism when you see all the economically non-productive service jobs being more lucrative than private sector real goods and services jobs, you can be sure something is wrong....
there has been a shift in American economics due ENTIRELY to political corruption.....
you go astray when you say this:
We need restructuring, right now, in a limited number of sectors of our society. I submit a few of those to be Health Care, Defense, Energy, Education, the Drug War, Finance etc.
We tried privatizing all of that and and that has just about destroyed our economy.
we didn't try "privatizing".....the post WWII experience has been the exact opposite....i.e. to wrest these functions from the private sector....
and, government is inept.....government...especially federal government (with a couple of exceptions) is the "make work agency" which hires those who otherwise couldn't or don't want to climb the ladder of success in the private sector....that has built a culture/mentality of government dependence...
and, this is NOT going to happen:
If we don't get the two parties together in the common goal of repairing our massive mess,
we have a group....DEMOCRATS/PROGRESSIVES....who are trying everything possible to create a mess....
that mess, as you call it, heralds their chance to gain power.....that's what it's all about: power and money....
the solution to this nation's problems is to PUSH OUT the progressives and get things like health care and education as far away from politicians and unions as possible....
the need for federal government is very limited:
1) international relations including trade agreements
2) communications (notice the politicians took that one away to keep their coffers filled)
3) uniform laws for vehicular traffic to insure smooth private and commercial travel
4) military
5) and, perhaps....just maybe....disaster relief
other than that, the states can do everything else even infrastructure......because small units respond faster, better and more cost efficiently than behemoth bureaucracies in which no one wants to take responsibility for outcomes...unless the experience is unanimously positive.
The Tea Party has the right idea. Do you think our forefathers were wrong? Was our country built on the wrong form of government?? Is our Constitution with its design of the three branches of government, Legislative, Executive and Judicial wrong???
We don't We need restructuring, we need restoration.
We need to get back to the basics; cut the money, cut the influence, cut the spending, kill the lobbies, cut waste, cut terms, cut special benefits, cut special rights; they are justour employes and need to live amongst us and not above us.
As our employees, well actually servants, we need to oversee their every move. It is a sad fact, but the failure of our current government, especially since the time of Wilson has been the fault of We The People, for we became lackadaisical and haven't kept a good eye and strong hand on our servants and our property.
Kick Ass, Break It Down, Restore It!
**************** Progressiveness Must Die Today, In Order That We May Be Free Tomorrow
Having gone homeless for a few years at the age of 14, and then spending 6 years serving in the Army National Guard and then working my tail off for the past 50 years, I think I qualify as one of America’s working/warriors.
I mention this because it’s important to know my motivation in writing—which is to get some help to my fellow Americans who reside in the middle and lower classes.
We of the middle and lower classes have been, and are being, screwed, blued and tattooed by a wildly dysfunctional Republican Party, which is being led by the nose, possibly down a path of no return, by The Tea Party. Consider the following quotes from the far-out Right and you will see it is not for nothing some are calling the Tea Party the American Taliban.
----“Voter ID, which is going to allow Governor Romney to win the State of Pennsylvania—Done:”…Pa. Mike Turzai—PA. House Republican Leader.
---“Making Sure there’s not [voter] fraud:”…Texas Governor, Republican Rick Perry offers as a reason to disenfranchise 20 MILLION Americans who may have committed all of 86 cases of voter fraud last year.
---“I must profess, whenever I see anyone with an Obama bumper sticker, I see them as a threat to the gene pool:”…FL. Republican representative Allen West.
---“The objective of the Liberal is to destroy this country, to make America mediocre:”…Herman Cain.
---“Our top political priority of the next two years should be to deny President Obama a second term:”…Senate minority leader, Republican Mitch McConnell.
---“Quit feeding stray animals because they breed:”…Republican Andre Bauer, Lt. Governor of South Carolina, concerning America’s poor and helpless.
Since the Bible-thumping, constitution-spouting Tea Party leads the charge in cutting the benefits, hopes and dreams of America’s most needy, perhaps they should actually read and study the two documents they most loudly and constantly reference.
Hopefully they will come across this rather important quote: “Heal the sick, feed the hungry, care for the weakest among us and always pray in private:”…said Jesus of Nazareth.
