If the cuke is really dead, they'll leave. It's their food. And they'll move on to something else.

My tomatoes are turning yellow in some spots and the plant is crispy and brown in others...yet there are branches that look to be perfectly healthy. I'm not garden savvy enough to know what's going on.

It's the heat.

If I were you, when the heat (temporarily) stops, I'd kill the mites, and cut back the cuke plate drastically. It might grow again.
