If you listened to the CC then recall Robert indicated that the shares were a minor consideration to him compared to the royalty income he is/was in line to receive. From that point of view, would not a deal with a company that actually was positioned, clear of historic baggage and with the funds and contacts result in a greater gain (keep in mind the present value of future money part of the equation).
