It's got nothing to do with playing "internet lawyer" or wanting to slam the company. It's got everything to do with how our legal system works.
Did you Google "respondeat superior"? I'm guessing you did not, since you would not be continuing with your wishful thinking that the company is not responsible if you had. The company was named on the complaint for a reason, and that reason is simple -- employers are responsible for employees. It's called the master-servant rule, and it's centuries old.
It remains to be seen what the materiality, if any, of the company's legal responsibility is going to be. But no amount of wishful thinking is going to change that there is legal responsibility on the part of the company.
