To all you race fans out there be it by land or sea (Since I am not)....how important is it to monitor certain engine and mechanical parameters in order to keep the contestants on a level playing field and does this sort of thing already exist in the racing world in real time? Is there or has there been a call to provide real-time stats so that in-race mods are not done to provide an edge? Does this GTC thing pave the way for introducing a monitoring standard that currently does not exist?

Grasping at straws here and maybe reading more into this than just a yacht race, but what the heck?
