Before super PACs, etc. became fashionable corps donated to pols, perhaps to social issues too, but my question remains - Is it good business sense for a corp to PUBLICLY support a politican/social issue?...and if/when they do, shouldn't they expect a backlash - positive and negative?
I guess I don't understand why Restoration Hardware, which btw is well-known for china/silverware replacements, would be surprised after they took a PUBLIC stand on a social issue. Although I agree with RH's stand, not all customers/prospective customers will...should it influence their buying? It would be short-sighted if it did, but narrow-minded people also tend to be short-sighted.
