Post-Initial Public Offering (IPO) Trading at Scottrade
Scottrade offers clients the capability of purchasing shares of stock in the secondary market after the initial public offering (IPO). Please note that you are not purchasing shares directly from the issuer at the initial public offering (IPO) price, rather you are purchasing these newly issued shares once they begin trading in the secondary market. The following order entry rules and funding requirements apply:
· Limit and Stop Limit Orders can be entered online or through a broker the morning the stock is scheduled to begin trading in the secondary market.
· Once the stock begins trading (after the Primary Opening Print), all normal online order entry (ex. market orders, stop orders, etc.) is allowed.
· Please note that you must have the necessary funds, for the purchase amount, posted in your account prior to placing an online order.
For more details regarding initial public offerings (IPOs), please visit our Knowledge Center. Also, you can view upcoming IPOs in the Market Calendar section under the Quotes & Research tab. Simply click a date on the calendar to view IPOs scheduled for that day.
If you have any questions regarding post-IPO trading, please contact your local Scottrade team.
