Diadexus has been hurt by the fact the LP-pla2 seems to be in visable as far as the cardiology agency that sets the US standards for indications and diagnosis..
This is chiefly because there is no outcome study which shows lowering LP-pla levels improves mortality or morbidity. LP-pla2 is solely produced by active intra arterial atherotic plaques...These plaques are inflamatory and are known to burst into the arterial vessel lumens, creating acute occlusions now known to be the typical event causing a heart attack.
DDXS...has a reliable way to monitor LP-pla2..I do not follow the stock (on the pink sheets), but remember they had trouble getting cardiologists and primaries to use it even though it is probabably a lot more significant than the other inflamatory markers (IMHO) as far as MIs and thrombotic stokes are concerned..There was also an insurance coverage issue..If I remember, Medicare would pay, but Aetna and the Blues did not..
But yes, if this is a class problem...then this is a real problem..PS We do not know the results of the Roche clincals yet..or do we??
