abc, agreed in full re: "glad they aren't involved in that now." i posted that first summer (after MIKP bought the PINR shell) that i'd prefer MIKP to focus on feature film dev (Mark's passion) rather than waste time, money, focus trying to compete in the circus of concert and event promotion.
re: other "successes": -- 1 concert -- 1 MMA event -- 1 comedy show (Birbiglia) -- 1 talent show (IGT: http://www.iowasgottalent.net/)
all of the above were PR'd at the time as the first of a profitable series of events. all ended up being one-offs. the IGT site still lists the 2010 dates for the "annual event."
Mark claimed to have profited on the MMA event, but the math we did at the time, based on ticket sale info, suggested small 5-figure profit, if any.
that said, it's nice to see Mark actually following through on WS and the acquisition. i'll be more positive about the acquisition when i convince myself St James Films isn't just a 2-day website mockup.
